No seguimento de idêntica iniciativa levada a cabo no ano transacto, o Projecto Videolab, em conjunto com o Laboratório de Artes Criativas (LAC) e a Área 55, tem o prazer de apresentar o VIDEOLAB LAGOS 2007, que se realizará nos dias 1, 2 e 3 de Novembro.

A grande novidade da presente edição é a substituição de sessões de âmbito generalista por sessões dedicadas ao tema "Imagem-Corpo". Neste sentido, o VIDEOLAB LAGOS 2007 é composto por três sessões com diferentes abordagens ao "Corpo", e por um conjunto dequatro instalações vídeo, a decorrer no "Espaço Jovem" e no Laboratório de Artes Criativas(LAC), respectivamente.

"IMAGEM-CORPO#1"

Composta por onze curtas-metragens, esta selecção propõe-se reflectir sobre o corpo não apenas como uma superfície de trabalho ("Tela Humana", "Words as Adornments") ou um material rigidamente definido ("Entitled as", "Dark Room", "Kip Masker"), bem como sobre vídeos evidenciando uma visão estritamente pessoal sobre a temática em questão ("Corpo", "UFO", "Keyframe", "Empieza por la a"), culminando em dois trabalhos representativos de uma abordagem artística a alguns dos processos fisiológicos inerentes ao corpo ("…", "Nothingness").

"IMAGEM-CORPO#2"

As sociedades humanas sempre edificaram a sua visão do mundo com base em binómios de enunciados opostos entre si: dia/noite, bem/mal, pensamento/corpo, razão/emoção, alto/baixo, homem/mulher. Binómios e enunciados esses que foram sendo associados entre si. Assim, ao bem corresponde o dia e as alturas, às trevas o mal e o baixo; ao homem corresponde a razão, à mulher corresponde o corpo. É sobre este último enunciado que a secção "Imagem-Corpo#2" pretende reflectir.

Os trabalhos seleccionados para a sessão "Imagem-Corpo#2" são na sua quase totalidade produzidos por mulheres (excepto "Siempre"). Pretende-se com esta selecção abordar temas como a definição da mulher em termos de religião católica ao longo dos tempos ("Siempre"); a redefinição da identidade feminina fruto da distorção do padrão comportamental ("The State of Things"); a ironia sobre a forma como se define a feminilidade ("Gender Bender Hallo"); a metáfora sobre a preservação da beleza ("Packaged Goods"); culminando num trabalho que incita à reflexão sobre os travestis e a sua necessidade de um corpo que lhes permita aceder à identidade feminina ("Trópico de Capricórnio").

"IMAGEM-CORPO#3" / "Corpo Formal"

"Corpo Formal" é uma reflexão na qual a temática dos trabalhos apresentados, além do corpo, é também o meio. Neste caso, o meio é a linguagem do vídeo que se torna presente ao espectador.

Um após outro, "provocadores" atiram-se contra uma multidão calma e destroem-na. A forma como está realizada a performance cria uma imagem metafórica de um acto terrorista. A imagem mostra um grupo de pessoas numa duna a cair e a levantarem-se de forma repetitiva. A referência ao 11 de Setembro é quase implícita.

Espaço interactivo composto por fitas penduradas no tecto, colchão no chão, projecção em círculo e círculo de cartas pendurado na parede.

No corpo fica o registo das marcas do tempo. Nele se vão armazenando as memorias. Momentos de contínua invasão de intimidade. Qualquer lembrança é sinónima de passado. É com os encontros de ternura dos corpos que novas memórias renascem para a imensidão do ser.

The first film by Moona was called Mi Nombre No Es Rita Hayworth. A few years had to pass before s/he who denied bearing the starlet's name could sign this film as his/hers. Moona had to baptize herself, invent her name, as she invented her body, her sex, her language. She named herself, as a person and as a signature. Because the name of an artist also serves as a brand, in the same way plastic language identifies h/er. MOONA. As much I am sure that this name exists, I am not sure I know who and what it designates. A name is but a word, a sign, under which one subsumes many things: a body, attitudes, a personality, works, etc. Thus, the name is nothing, yet can evoke all that. I am thinking of the portraits made by Felix Gonzalez-Torres that present persons as series of historical coordinates, individuals criss crossed by events. Moona takes the opposite path, since her name alone evokes a multitude. While the proper name must identify, Moona uses it like brand subject to variation (Spending Moona, Product of Reunion Island,UnForgettable Object or Unidentified Flying Object...) that gathers under it various images, integrates them in the work like a developing whole, and as a signature that disturbs identification.

How to say "I"? Am I still the one who danced a few years ago? While playing with her past and her transformations, she leads us to pose questions about the notion of identity. Because Moona uses transgenderism to highlight the fact that identification is a process always in crisis. To do this, she works and re-works her image, duplicating it, repeating it, diffusing it in loops and in grids, dividing it, and spreading it kaleidoscopically. This lastaction—breaking the images to recompose them in newcombinations—underlines the way in which one can indefinitely createsomething new from what exists. The organization of images into grids,their repetition as vignettes on the screen, transforms them into motifs, atoms of colors, hypnotic rhythms. In Haraam, Moona displays herself in an aggressive choreography, halfway between striptease and trance, locating her art between cabaret and temple. Pure or impure?Subject or object? She always troubles us, cause us to question ourselves.

The trajectories of Moona obey her desire to be built at the present on the traces of the migrations which she situates herself. She is interested less in stable identities than in transgressive movement sand in momentary situations where individuals meet their cultures. Moona situates herself thus in the landscape of the contemporary art, as an artist of the south who seeks to merge her desire for freedom with her anchoring in a diverse heritage.

Le premier film de Moona s’appelait Mi Nombre No Es Rita Hayworth. Il fallut quelques années pour que celui/celle qui déclarait ne pas porter le nom de la star puisse signer ce film du sien. Moona a du se baptiser elle-même, inventer son nom, comme elle inventait son corps, son sexe, son langage. Elle s’est ainsi nommée comme personne et comme signature. Car le nom d’un artiste joue aussi un rôle de logo. De même son langage plastique l’identifie. MOONA. Autant je suis sûr que ce nom existe, je ne suis pas sûr de savoir qui et ce qu’il désigne. Un nom n’est qu’un mot, un signe, sous lequel on subsume de nombreuses choses : corps, attitudes, personnalité, œuvres etc. Ainsi le nom n’est rien et peut évoquer tout cela. Je pense aux portraits réalisés par Félix Gonzalez-Torres qui donnent les coordonnées historiques permettant de saisir qui est une personne en tant qu’un individu traversé d’événements. Moona suit le chemin inverse puisque son nom seul évoque une multitude. Quand le nom propre doit identifier, Moona l’utilise comme un logo susceptible de déclinaisons (Spending Moona, Product of Reunion Island, UnForgettable Object or Unidentified Flying Object,…) qui rassemble sous lui diverses images, les intègre dans l’œuvre comme une globalité en devenir, et comme une signature qui perturbe l’identification.

Comment dire « je » ? Suis-je toujours celui qui dansait il y a quelques années ? En jouant de son histoire et de ses transformations, elle nous conduit à nous interroger sur la notion d’identité. Car Moona utilise le transgenderisme pour mettre en évidence le fait que l’identification est un processus toujours en crise. Pour cela, elle travaille et retravaille son image, la duplique, la répète, la diffuse en boucle et en grille, la divise et la démultiplie en kaléidoscope. Ce dernier, cassant les images pour les recomposer en de nouvelles combinaisons, souligne la façon dont on peut indéfiniment créer du nouveau à partir de l’existant. L’organisation des images en grille, leur répétition à la façon de vignettes sur l’écran, les transforme en motifs, atomes de couleurs, rythmes hypnotiques. Dans Haraam, Moona s’exhibe en une chorégraphie agressive, entre le strip-tease et la transe, situant son art entre le cabaret et le temple. Pure ou impure ? Sujet ou objet ? Elle maintient toujours le trouble pour nous conduire à l’interrogation.

Les trajectoires de Moona obéissent à son désir de se construire au présent sur les traces des migrations dont elle se fait l’héritière. Elle s’intéresse moins aux identités stables qu’aux mouvements transgressifs et aux situations de passage qui font se rencontrer les individus et leurs cultures. Moona s’inscrit ainsi, dans le paysage de l’art contemporain, comme une artiste du sud, soucieuse de proposer une alliance possible entre son désir de liberté et son ancrage dans des héritages multiples.

Moona est galicienne et française mais aussi de nulle part et d’ailleurs, elle s’identifie essentiellement comme Queer. C'est-à-dire dans la frontière de plusieurs territoires, des ages, des identités sexuelles, des genres et de la pornographie. Moona se trouve entre le capital et sans moyens, entre la clandestinité et devant les tribunaux, entre l’isolation et le consensus, entre l’utopie et la réalité virtuelle.
Les oeuvres artistiques de Moona se montrent peut-être comme un animal blessé, mais au même temps avec de la vigueur et prêt à combattre pour arriver à avoir une visibilité :-« Mon art est la lutte pour l’existence. Une œuvre qu’est la métaphore de l’autre, de quelqu’un que nous n’écoutons pas, à celle qui n’existe pas juridiquement et politiquement. De ce peuple qui n’occupe pas la place qui le correspond à niveau politique et culturel. »En définitif. L’art convulsif et persistant d’une survivante en lutte contre les stéréotypes et les agressions.
